“Lying among the rhododendrons on Howth head”

After a couple days of pavement-pounding, we’re citied out. So this morning we boarded the DART and headed to the end of the line: Howth, storied location of Molly Bloom’s proposal. We come to Howth for the salt air, the endless views, the looming lighthouse and crowded fishing boats, and, above all, the battered, fried, golden, crispy, lemon-and-tartar-sauced, iconic fish and chips. It’s the picnic to end all picnics, in one of Ireland’s most beautiful summer spots.
